Impairment
One of the primary causes of
dental implant failure is
nerve impairment.There are many
nerves running through the jaw. The most prominent one is the
inferior alveolar nerve which runs along the lower jaw, in the
mandibular canal.
The best way to avoid nerve impairment is
with careful diagnostic procedures. A three-dimensional CT scan is
really required to disclose the position of the mandibular canal in
three dimensions. Anything less increases the risk of invasion of
this canal during the
surgery.
